As to the Act of Tynwald of 1777. I do not perceive in what respect
the Dukes rights are prejudiced by it — No Lease that would have
been otherwise voidable is confirmed by that Act, the Clause that
nothing therein contained, shall lessen the right of a Person possessed
of Estates for terms of years, gives no right to any such persons
which he could not otherwise maintain, and the general enabling
Clause to Lease for 21 Years can do no prejudice, for the power
is subject to two Qualifications, the Lease must be in possession,
and it must be at the highest and most improved Rent.

This Act therefore cannot certainly weaken the Dukes Title
to set aside Leases granted by his Father at a Rent less
than one third of the yearly Value.

Al. Wedderburn
