Happy for us, that your Excellencys knowledge in the affairs of this Isle, can
vindicate our Conduct in those respects; And we depend on your known Candour &
humanity to represent the utter falsity & Injustice of those reports, not doubting
but when Truth shall appear & malignity no longer prevail, we shall happily
enjoy (under your Excellencys Influence) further freedoms of Trade, suitable to
the present Exigencies & wants of the Inhabitants. May your Excellency
long enjoy the divine protection & continue in the Governm^t. of this Isle a
Blessing to our Community. Dated this 22^d. Aug^t. 1765.
