THE King by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of England, bearing Date Westminster, the 17th of March, in the third year of his Reign, did, in consideration of a fine of £101 15s. 11d. paid into the receipt of his Majesty's Exchequer, by Sir Thomas Leigh Knightly, and Thomas Spencer, Esquire, and for other considerations, demised to them, all those Houses, Scites, Circuits, and precincts, formerly the Monastery and priory of Rushing and Douglas, and the Fryers Minor of Brymaken, with all their appurtenances in his Island of Man; and all those his Rectories and churches of Kirkevrist in Shelding and Kirklovan, formerly belonging to the monastery of Rushing; except, and always reserved to his Majesty, his Heirs and Successors, all Woods, underwoods, wardships, Marriages, Mines and Quarries, To hold to the Lessees for forty years.
