Document Reference: T 1/459/367 Source URL: https://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/history/treasury/t459_367.htm Filename: t459_367.htm ================================================================================ T 1/459/367 - Ports in the Isle of Man 1766 T 1/459/367 - Ports in the Isle of Man 1766 To Right Honourable The Memorial of Chas Lutwidge Receiver Genl of his Majesty's Revenues in the Isle of Man Humbly Sheweth That by an Act passed last sessions of Parliament his Majesty from and after the 1st July 1766, being empowered by Commission or Commissions out of his Court of Exchequer in England to Assign & Appoint all such Ports Members Creeks & Places in the Isle of Man, as shall be lawful for the Landing Discharging Lading or Shipping of any Goods, Wares or Merchandizes into or from the said Isle. Your Memorialist prays Your Lordships will be pleased to take the same into Consideration & to direct a Commission to issue out of the said Court accordingly for the purposes before mentioned - by virtue of which Commission yr Memorialist humbly Apprehends it will be most for the benefit & interest of his Majesty's Revenue for the Port of Douglas to be appointed the Head Port, & the Ports of Darby Haven, Ramsay & Peel (which will include the whole of the Sea Coasts of the Isle of Man) as Members thereof..
